Gorgon Shield Necklace

Ancient Greek coin necklace featuring the face of a Gorgon. The face of the Gorgon, also called the Gorgoneion, has been an apotropaic symbol since ancient times. It was used symbolically on buildings, ships, armor, and coins across the Mediterranean to ward off evil and illness. Reverse side of coin features the face of Athena in her plumed battle helmet. Ancient, time worn artifact has been lovingly molded and re-imagined in warm 14k yellow gold. Pendant has a nice weight to it. Comes on a 16” or 18" solid 14k yellow gold chain.
